Youth Hostel Contest
Winners of the 3 prize for a[R]challenge magazine.
Continuing with the historical constructive tradition of the neighborhood of Torre Baró, with the conditions of creating a new access to the Natural Park of the Sierra de Collserola and at the same time a meeting place for the neighborhood, the "youth hostel" is considered as an element of servitude . Being a self-built architecture (historical heritage of the area) serves as a connection to a new natural space with workshops and public recreation areas ending in a restaurant which serves as a gateway to the natural park. The housing module works as connecting and staying element, playing in the fixed stay area (rooms and private spaces of them) and public spaces that serve as viewpoint to the valley and to save the difference of level of the street with the natural space, doing so it can be a colonized space for the enjoyment of the neighbors of Torre Barò and the people staying in "Modular Falls".
